Apprentices are Indentured to the JLATA
Overview of the JLATA’s Role in Your Apprenticeship
- Serves as your first and most important point of contact if you have an apprenticeship issue.
- Registers and sponsors you as an Apprentice with the Industry Training Authority (ITA).
- Processes all ITA documentation and reviews with you any documentation sent by the ITA regarding training progress.
- Ensures you receive work-based training that incorporates the full scope of the Apprenticeship Program.
- Tracks and approves your Term Status upgrades.
- Plans and schedules your technical training with an ITA designated training facility.
- Tracks and reports to the ITA your work-based training hours.
- Tracks and records your grades for all technical training levels and Inter-Provincial (IP) Examination.
- Monitors your progress on the job through Field Progress Assessments and Work Reports.
- Notifies the ITA when you have successfully completed all Apprenticeship Program requirements.
- Recommends you for certification to the ITA when all work-based training, technical training, other program requirements and Inter-Provincial (IP) Red Seal Examination are successfully completed.
Apprentices become members of the Local 258 IBEW when they begin their employment with one of our Employers.
